USC Falls To UCLA, 5-2

April 15, 2005

LOS ANGELES - The No. 19 USC men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to No. 7 UCLA on Friday, April 15, in Westwood, Calif. With the loss the Trojans end the regular season at 11-12 and 3-4 in conference play, while the Bruins finish 21-3, 6-1 and pick up 2.5 points in the Lexus Gauntlet competition. The match gave the two programs a split on the season after Troy won at home on March 1.

USC dropped two of the three doubles matches giving the point to UCLA. The Trojans' combo of Drew Hoskins and Adam Loucks prevented the doubles sweep with an upset over the 42nd-ranked duo of Philipp Gruendler and Benjamin Kohlloeffel, 8-5, at court No.2.

In singles, UCLA took four of the six matches to clinch their victory. Troy's 10th-ranked Jamil Al-Agba provided an impressive victory for USC, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, at center court over eighth-ranked Kohlloeffel. Kaes Van't Hof picked up the other point for the Trojans with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Chris Lam at court four.

USC next heads to Ojai, Calif. for the Pac-10 Championships to be held April 21-24.
