Men's Golf Wins U.S. Intercollegiate

The No. 19 Trojan golf squad shot a four-over 284 in the final round to win the U.S. Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. Shooting a six-over 846 in three rounds, this was the Trojans first win of 2005.
Junior Taylor Wood led the Trojans after shooting a two-under 68 in the third round to finish the tournament tied for 2nd place at one under (209) with Matt Ma of Oregon and Rob Grube of Stanford.
San Diego State finished 17 strokes behind the first-place Trojans for second place (863) and Fresno State shot 867 to finish third. UCLA (868) and Stanford (869) rounded out the top five.
Senior Ben Hayes shot par in the third round for a sixth-place individual finish at two-over 212.
The Trojans next compete in the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, April 25-27 at the Walla Walla Country Club in Walla Walla, Wash.
