COMING UP: The Stanford men's tennis team closes out a season-high five match home stand with the season's final regular season dual contest against Santa Clara. The match is a make up of a rained out match originally scheduled for March 21st ... The Broncos are only the second un-ranked team that the Cardinal has faced this season ... Following Tuesday's contest, Stanford will head to the Pac-10 Individual Championships in Ojai, CA. Senior Sam Warburg is the defending Pac-10 singles champion.
CARDINAL NOTES: Senior Sam Warburg continued to make his final season on The Farm a memorable one, knocking off a pair of highly ranked opponents last week. Warburg topped No. 13 ranked Pedro Rico of Pepperdine last Tuesday, and defeated No. 16 ranked Conor Niland of Cal on Saturday. Warburg has posted a 20-3 mark against nationally ranked opponents ... Junior KC Corkery has won his last eight singles contests, with six of those victories coming against nationally ranked opponents. Corkery is 19-3 in dual matches so far this season ... James Wan, last season's Pac-10 Co-Freshman of the Year, has avoided any type of sophomore slump by posting a 16-6 record in dual matches with a 13-5 mark against Pac-10 opponents this season.
STANFORD IN THE RANKINGS: The Cardinal checked in at No. 16 in the ITA rankings released on April 12th ... Sam Warburg remains the highest ranked Cardinal singles player at No. 2, while KC Corkery leaped from No. 33 to No. 18 in the rankings with several impressive wins ... The tandem of Warburg and Corkery are the No. 3 ranked duo in the doubles rankings.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS: Santa Clara enters the week with a 12-9 overall record after posting a pair of wins at home last weekend. The Broncos topped UC San Diego by a 6-1 score and edged Sacramento State, 4-3. Senior Francisco Zepponi broke the Santa Clara record for career singles wins with his 73rd victory in a Bronco uniform against the Hornets. Zepponi has teamed with fellow senior Taylor Bedilion to post an undefeated 5-0 mark at the No. 2 doubles position so far this season. The Santa Clara squad features four seniors.™
