Another Player Signs For Cougar Tennis

PULLMAN, Wash - Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart announced the signing of Anastesia (Ann-eh-STAY-shuh) Opata (Oh-POD-uh) to a National Letter of Intent, Tuesday. Opata will join the Cougar family as a freshman in the fall.
Opata will trek to Washington State from Lawrenceville, Ga. where she was ranked as high as No. 2 in the state and No. 9 in the South region in her junior career. She also made her presence known on the national level as well by holding the No. 85 spot nationally in the 18 and under age group.
She played in the No. 1 position in the 2003 Davis Cup/Fed Cup for Georgia in the 18 and under age group. Along with her partner, Opata captured the 2003 National Open Doubles Championship in the bracket.
'Anastesia will help lead our team to athletic and academic excellence,' Hart said. 'She has proven herself on the national level and was been ranked as high as No. 54 (16 and under) in the nation in her junior tennis career, Anastesia has unlimited potential and was one of the most athletic junior tennis players in the country.'
Opata will join Coug signees Maria Ring and Carmen Selaru at Washington State in August.
'I am so excited to be joining the Cougar family,' Opata said. 'I know my next four years will be great at WSU.'
