Beavers prepare for #5 Stanford, and UCLA
April 20, 2005
Oregon State will be traveling back to Redwood City, California this Saturday to compete against Pac-10 opponents UCLA who is unranked and Stanford who stayed at #5 in the nation this week.
Two weeks ago the beavers were in Redwood City, California for the Windermere Crew Classic. They beat #14 Wisconsin and #15 Wisconsin, but lost to #2 California.
'I think we are as ready as we will ever be for this weekend,' said Head Coach Fred Honebein, 'everyone is making adjustments and the guys are practicing hard. It's always good to race someone who is higher than you, because you have nothing to lose.'
This week the Beavers moved into the top 10 for the first time this season, moving from #13 in the nation into #9.
'Oregon State has always been one of the top crews in the nation,' said Honebein, 'it's a testament to the athletes and the coaches in this program. We don't like losing and we have set high standards and high goals, but I also think it would be good to try and get a little lower rank.'
Racing begins at 9 AM on Saturday vs. #5 Stanford, and then continues at noon on Saturday vs. UCLA.
