Sophomore Veronica Felibert tied for the second-lowest round of the day while freshman Dewi-Claire Schreefel and junior Tanya Dergal also maintained strong play as USC finished third at the 2005 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships at Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, Calif., on Wednesday (April 20).
USC finished with a team total of 880, 16-above par and six shots behind first-place UCLA. Arizona State finished second, four shots off the lead. USC's final-day 294 tied for the second-lowest round of the day.
The Women of Troy, whose third-place finish was the best at the Pac-10 Championships since 1998, battled among the leaders all day and rallied to within two strokes down the stretch.
Felibert wrapped up the competition with a tournament personal best 70 (-2). She finished tied for 14th overall at 224. Schreefel was USC's highest finisher at 217 (+1), tying for sixth after a final-day 74. Dergal was one shot back at 218 (+2), tying for ninth after a day-three 75.
USC's third-place finish was only the sixth time Troy finished among the top 3 since the Pac-10 Championships started in 1987.
