Cougar Men Set to Host Pacific-10 Conference Championships in Walla Walla

Cougars Host Pacific-10 Championships: Washington State University will host the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships, April 25-27, at the par 71, 6,606 yard Walla Walla Country Club in Walla Walla, Wash.
Past Pac-10 Champions: Past individual tournament champions include Tiger Woods (1996), Phil Mickelson (1990), Corey Pavin (1982), and Scott Simpson (1975-76).
Rankings: As of April 18th, the Golfweek/Sagarin Index shows that five Pac-10 teams are ranked in the Top-30, while nine teams are listed in the Top-100. USC is ranked No. 14, followed by UCLA at No. 16, Arizona State is ranked No. 17, Arizona at No. 24 and rounding out the Top-30 is Washington at No. 29. As for the rest of the Conference, Stanford is No. 50, Oregon State at No. 61, Oregon at No. 66, California checks in at No. 75 and Washington State at No. 105...Individually, Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares is ranked No. 36, Daniel Im of UCLA is ranked No. 46, USC's Ben Hayes is ranked No. 47 an Arizona's Henry Liaw is ranked No. 49.
Tournament Schedule: A practice round is scheduled for Sunday, April 24...the first two rounds will be played Monday with a scheduled start time of 7 a.m...third round Tuesday, final round Wednesday...each day has a scheduled start time of 7:30 a.m...admission is free to the public.
Scoring: The 72-hole competition will be scored by stroke play...each team is comprised of six golfers, with the five lowest scores for each 18 counting for the given round.

NCAA Dates: The NCAA West Regional Tournament will be held at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., May19-21...NCAA Championships will be held at the Caves Valley Golf Course in Baltimore, Md., June 1-4.
Strong Showing at Pacific Coast Intercollegiate: The Cougars finished second in the 21-team field, eight strokes back of tournament champion UC Davis, April 5...three-round total of 887 (+23) is the third-lowest three-round score this season...second place finish is their best finish since winning the Inland Cup, Feb. 14...Fern finished tied for 10th...Witz and Chen finished in the top 25.
First For Fern: Fern captured his first career tournament victory, Feb. 14, at the Inland Cup at the Walla Walla Country Club...he has finished in the top 25 in seven of 12 tournaments this season.
Cougars Win Inland Cup Title: The Cougars captured the Inland Cup team title for the seventh consecutive year with a nine-stroke victory over Idaho, Feb. 14 at the Walla Walla Country Club.
