Doubles Duo Out In Pac-10 Semis
April 23, 2005
OJAI, Calif. - The 2005 Pac-10 Championships came to an end today for the Husky women's tennis team, as their final two competitors, senior Dea Sumantri and junior Dinka Hadzic, lost in the semifinals of the main doubles draw.
Sumantri and Hadzic won a pair of matches on Friday to reach the semifinals but were ousted today without winning a single game, as Stanford's Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey handed the Huskies an 8-0 defeat.
After a rough first day of the tourney where all UW women were eliminated from singles play, the Huskies bounced back with a collective 5-3 performance in doubles, but only Hadzic and Sumantri made it to the weekend. Finals in each singles and doubles draw will be played Sunday.
Washington will now have a week off as they wait to hear their destination and draw in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. NCAA Regionals will be held May 14-15.
