Men's Tennis Concludes Competition at Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The Arizona State University men's tennis team concluded action at the 2005 Pac-10 Individual and Doubles Championships, held in Ojai, Calif., Friday afternoon. Christopher Biro competed in the quarterfinal round in the main draw of singles competition while Mike Beatty battled in the quarterfinal match in the invitational draw. The doubles team of Biro and Ryan McBride advanced out of the first round before falling in second round action.
Biro hit the courts Friday afternoon in a quarterfinal singles match against Oregon's Sven Swinnen, falling to Swinnen, 6-4, 6-4, to end his run at the Pac-10 Championships. Biro defeated Washington's Chris Palmanshofer and upset USC's Jamil Al-Agba to advance to Friday's match.
Beatty battled against California's Dean Wallace in quarterfinal action of the invitational draw Friday afternoon. Beatty was upended, 6-0, 6-4, to end singles competition for the Sun Devils.
In doubles action, the tandems of Beatty and Andy Colombo and Jonathan Kinsella and Clinton Letcher were in action in the main draw, both duos dropped their first round matches. Beatty and Colombo took on Bruno Alcala and Claudio Christen of the University of Arizona, falling. 9-7. Kinsella and Letcher were upended, 8-4, by UCLA's Alberto Francis and Kris Kwinta.
In the invitational draw, Biro and McBride advanced to the second round with a bye, before falling to Eric McKean and James Wan of Stanford, 8-0.
