April 24, 2005

OJAI, Calif.-- Washington State sophomore Amy Toth came up short in the finals match of the Pac-10 Invitational singles draw Sunday.

Toth was put down by Southern California's Carine Vermeulen, 7-5, 6-3 to receive second place in Pac-10 Invitational singles play. Toth met Vermeulen earlier this year, March 11 and fell in that match as well, 6-3, 6-1.

'Amy played hard,' Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart said. 'We're proud of her effort, but credit to Carine (Vermeulen) she's one of the best No. 5 singles players in the country.'
