Corvallis, Ore. - Former Oregon State University linebacker Jonathan Pollard became the fourth Beaver to sign a free agent contract Monday, inking with the San Diego Chargers. Pollard joins free agent signees Brandon Browner (Denver), Mitch Meeuwsen (Miami) and Aric Williams (Philadelphia).
Pollard started 20 games for his career and made 122 tackles. He was a co-team captain as a senior and earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Conference. Pollard was invited to play in the Hula Bowl, but did not participate.
Three Beavers were selected in the NFL Draft last weekend - defensive end Bill Swancutt was a sixth round selection of Detroit and quarterback Derek Anderson was picked later in the same round by Baltimore. Offensive tackle Doug Nienhuis was a seventh round selection of Seattle.
