Lauren Greer Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Washington freshman outfielder Lauren Greer has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week for April 19-25. She led the Huskies to a 3-1 record last week, including an upset win over No. 10 UCLA on April 23 and a pair of wins over Nevada on April 24.
Greer, from Placentia, Calif., hit the game-winning home run against UCLA on April 23 with a two-run shot to left field. Greer followed up that performance with a 4-for-6 showing against Nevada in a doubleheader. Greer went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and three runs in the opener. She also went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run against Nevada in game two. On the week, Greer led all players with a .667 average, going 8-for-12 from the plate with five runs scored, four RBIs, one double and two home runs.
Greer ranks second on the team with a .346 average in Pac-10 games. She is hitting .303 overall with six doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs.
This is the first weekly honor for Greer and the 27th all-time for Washington.
The Huskies begin the second half of the Pac-10 season this week with four home games. UW will host UCLA on Wednesday at 1 pm and will face Stanford on Friday and California on Saturday and Sunday.
