Men's Golf Signs Pair Of Prep Standouts
April 28, 2005
Prep golfers Ryan Linton and Michael Pinjuv, both with impressive junior golf backgrounds, have signed national letters of intent with USC, coaches Kurt Schuette and Ted Gleason announced on Thursday (April 28).
Linton, Illinois' No. 1-ranked junior, won the Division 2-A high school boys golf title while attending Lake Forest (Ill.) High in 2004 and led his squad to the team title as well. Linton also recorded three second-place finishes in highly competitive AJGA events. He recently fired a career-low round of 63 and is currently ranked 41st in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
Pinjuv prepped at Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, Nev. The Division 4-A state champion in 2003, he was named the Sunset Division's Player of the Year in 2004. Pinjuv also earned Academic All-State honors three times.
'We feel confident these two talented players will be major contributors to our program,' Schuette said. 'We look forward to their arrival this fall.' They join Tom Glissmeyer of Colorado Springs, Colo., who signed earlier this fall.
