UW Women's Soccer Squad Finishes Spring Season Saturday
April 28, 2005
SEATTLE - The spring soccer session concludes this weekend for the Washington women's soccer team. The Huskies finish the season with a single game against Western Washington, Saturday, April 30. Admission is free for the exhibition contest that kicks off at 11 a.m. at Husky Soccer Field.
Injuries and departures to graduation have limited Elite Eight qualifier Washington to only 7-aside matches this off-season. The Huskies will finish using five of their graduating seniors to field a full 11-player lineup versus the NCAA Division II member Vikings.
Saturday's game will be followed by a women's soccer Alumni Event featuring more than 30 returning alumns competing in a 4-on-4 tournament.
The Huskies begin their 2005 season on the road, Aug. 26-28 at Penn State's tournament. Their home debut comes during the annual Husky/Nike Invitational, Sept. 2 & 4. Host Washington meets Pacific in the first round while Portland plays San Diego State.
The 2005 Washington squad returns 11 players from last season's elite eight team. The Huskies will welcome 13 newcomers to the roster in the fall.
