May. 2, 2005
USC senior center Kim Gipson was awarded the 2004-05 USC Gimble Award on Friday for 'being the student-athlete who inspired the greatest sense of teamwork and unity.'
The award recognizes a Trojan student-athlete with unique sportsmanlike qualities and someone who made positive contributions to the cohesion of their team.
Gipson entered her senior year as a solid contributor from 2002-2004, but blossomed as a senior in 2005. After averaging 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in her first three seasons, she improved to 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 2005.
Her play helped USC to a 20-11 record and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Women of Troy's first since 1997.
