Men's Tennis Signs Andrew Gerst To National Letter Of Intent

May. 2, 2005

SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington men's tennis head coach Matt Anger announced today the signing of prep standout from Southern California, Andrew Gerst, to a national letter of intent. Gerst will join the Huskies for the 2005-06 season.

'Andy will be a great addition to our program, as he brings a lot of the intangibles and is a great team guy,' Anger said.

Gerst attends Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, Calif. A high school All-American, Gerst has been ranked nationally in singles and was billed as high as No. 13 in the 16-under Southern California singles rankings. Also a standout in doubles, Gerst won the Southern California 18-under Doubles Sectional in the fall of 2004.

He is the third letter of intent signee for the Huskies, joining David Chu (Vancouver, B.C.) and Patrik Fischer (Switzerland) to make up the 2006 UW freshman class.
