Tennis Teams Earn NCAA Seeds

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's tennis team earned a No. 7 seed and the UCLA women earned a No. 10 seed, as draws for the 64-team NCAA Championships were announced Wednesday. With their high seedings, both teams were also selected to host the first and second rounds of the tournament next week at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The 10th-seeded UCLA women (15-5) will take on Illinois State (18-7) on Friday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. That match will be preceded by Washington (14-8) and Long Beach State (15-10) at 10:00 a.m. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for a chance to move on to the round of 16 in Athens, Ga, May 19-22. The seventh-seeded UCLA men (21-3) will take on Manhattan (16-4) in a first-round contest on Saturday, May 14 at Noon. Prior to that, San Diego State (17-5) and Cal (11-9) will do battle at 9:00 a.m. Saturday's winners will meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to the round of 16 in College Station, Texas, May 21-24.
