Women of Troy Second After First Round of 2005 NCAA West Regional

The No. 14 USC women's golf squad shot a five-over 293 on Thursday to finish second after the first round of play at the 2005 NCAA West Regional at the University Golf Course in La Cruces, N.M. Senior Irene Cho and junior Tanya Dergal led the Women of Troy after shooting par (72) and finished round one tied for sixth with three other competitors.

The Trojans finsihed Thursday two strokes back of first-place Tennessee and three strokes ahead of third-place Georgia and Cal.

Freshman Dewi-Claire Schreefel shot a one-over 73 to tie for 11th after one round. Sophomore Veronica Felibert is tied for 32nd after shooting 76 and classmate Catalina Marin is tied for 45th with her five-over 77 first-round score.
