Galindo Invited to National Team Selection Camp
May 10, 2005
USA Softball announced on Tuesday that California third baseman Vicky Galindo is one of 32 players invited to participate in the 2005 U.S. Women's National Team Selection Camp, June 13-17, at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
Galindo, who leads the Bears with a .356 batting average, 11 doubles and 17 stolen bases, will vie with other prospective players for the 18-member national team and 16-member elite team that will represent the U.S. at various international events this year. Galindo is just one of 11 collegians picked to try out.
A first team All-America, All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-10 Conference selection in 2004, Galindo has already been named to the U.S. roster for June's Pacific Rim Sports Summit, a multi-sport international festival in Seattle. She has previously represented the U.S. on Elite and World University Games teams.
The No. 2 Bears wrap up regular-season play this week at home against No. 3 Arizona (May 12) and Arizona State (May 13-14). NCAA Regional action begins May 20. Sites and opponents for postseason play will be announced Sunday.
