CONFERENCE TITLE ON THE LINE HEADING INTO LAST WEEKEND OF ACTION
Beavers remain one game ahead of Stanford heading into this weekend

The Pac-10 posts a 200-44 (.819) record over non-conference opponents this season. As of May 4, seven Pac-10 teams rank among the Top-25 of the NFCA/USA Today poll and six in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. With three Conference games remaining, OREGON STATE leads the Conference with a 13-5 conference record and 39-11 overall record. Only one game behind, No. 4/5 STANFORD stands in second at 12-6, 39-12, while there is a fight for third with No. 3/3 ARIZONA and No. 2/2 CALIFORNIA standing at 11-7. The Wildcats and Bears will face each other this weekend as Arizona and ARIZONA STATE will travel to the Bay Area to face California and Stanford. No. 7/6 Oregon State and No. 25 OREGON will travel to Seattle to take on No. 20/22 Washington and to Los Angeles to face No. 14 UCLA this weekend. UCLA junior Caitlin Benyi has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, and UCLA'a Lisa Dodd has been named Pitcher of the Week for May 3-9.

PAC-10 NOTES

ARIZONA
Head coach Mike Candrea won his 1,000th game at the helm of the Wildcats on March 13 with a win over Miami-Ohio. He currently holds a record of 1018-198 over his 19 years at UA...The Wildcats went 3-1 last weekend with all three wins against No. 20 Washington on May 7 (3-0 and 9-1) and on May 8 (4-3). The loss came on May 6 against No. 14 UCLA in a 6-0 shutout...Junior pitcher Alicia Hollowell won her 100th career game with the victory over then-No. 3 California on April 2. In three games last weekend, Hollowell snagged three wins in 19 innings of work. She allowed four runs on 13 hits and struck out 40 batters, including 17 against Washington, twice. She has 369 strikeouts this season and carries a career total of 1,271. Her record improved to 26-7 and her ERA of 1.10 leads Arizona's pitching staff...SO Caitlin Lowe went 8-for-14, including a double, a triple, four runs and three RBI in four games. She leads Arizona and the Conference in batting average with a .513 mark...Arizona will travel to the Bay Area this weekend to face No. 2 California on Thursday and No. 4 Stanford on Friday and Saturday.

ARIZONA STATE
With 561 wins, head coach Linda Wells has the most victories all-time in ASU's 39-year history, surpassing coaching legend Mary Littlewood's 536...The Sun Devils dropped three games last weekend at home against No. 20 Washington, 8-0 on May 6, No. 14 UCLA, 6-1 on May 7 and against UCLA, 8-0 in five on May 8...In three appearances, junior pitcher Desiree Serrano is having her best season with a team-leading 12-7 record. She has posted three shutouts with a 2.29 ERA and 117 strikeouts. Serrano currently ranks third all-time on ASU's charts in career strikeouts with 551 and is ninth all-time with 46 victories...The Sun Devils will travel to the Bay Area this weekend to take on No. 4 Stanford on Thursday and No. 2 California on Friday and Saturday.

CALIFORNIA
California went 2-1 last weekend defeating No. 25 Oregon, 1-0 on May 7 and 1-0 on May 8. The Bears lost to No. 7 Oregon State on May 6 in a 2-0 decision. California improves to 44-10 on the season and 11-7 in Pac-10 action...In a one-hit, 1-0 victory against Oregon on May 7, JR Kristina Thorson did not allow a runner past first base, faced just one batter over the minimum and struck out six. She improved to 20-4 with a league-best 0.99 ERA on the season and has not allowed a run in her past 30.1 innings of work and has not lost in her last nine appearances...The Bears will host No. 3 Arizona on Thursday and Arizona State on Friday and Saturday to wrap up Conference action.

OREGON
Third-year head coach Kathy Arendson won her 100th game at the helm of the Ducks with the 3-1 victory over UCLA on April 2. Oregon is 32-22 overall and posts a 5-13 Pac-10 record this season...The Ducks dropped three games last weekend in Conference play against No. 4 Stanford, 5-1 on May 6, No. 2 California, 1-0 on May 7 and again to Cal, 1-0 on May 8. In non-conference play, the Ducks defeated Portland State on May 4, 4-0 and UC Davis in a double header on May 5, 4-0, twice...JR Amy Harris moved up to second all-time on the Oregon career charts with 450 strikeouts, 24 shy of the school record. FR Joanna Gail sat out the season due to an injury but started for the first time against UC Davis. She played against Stanford and had the only Duck RBI. Gail also made her first Pac-10 start against California on May 8. In only 12 at bats, the freshman has three hits and eight RBI...Oregon will travel to Los Angeles to take on No. 14 UCLA on Thursday and then head to Seattle, Wash. for games on Friday and Saturday against No. 20 Washington.

OREGON STATE
Heading into the final weekend of Conference play, the Beavers lead the pack with a 13-5 record and 39-11 overall and a one game lead over Stanford. Oregon State went 2-1 last weekend, with wins against No. 2 California, 2-0 on May 6 and against No. 4 Stanford in a 1-0 nine inning game. OSU dropped the May 8 game against the Cardinal, 6-4...SO Brianne McGowan held a 1.24 ERA on the week with two complete game shutouts and 16 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched. McGowan continues to extend her school record for victories, pushing her total wins to 33 on the year. She has recorded 14 victories on the season against teams ranked in the Top 25. McGowan's 279 strikeouts are just nine shy of Oregon State's single-season record...JR Lisa Allen led the Beavers with a .556 batting average (5-for-9), three doubles, three runs scored, and an .889 slugging percentage. ...OSU will travel to Seattle, Wash. to take on the No. 20-ranked Washington Huskies and then travel to Los Angeles to meet with No. 14 UCLA on Friday and Saturday.

STANFORD
The No. 4-ranked Cardinal went 2-1 last week, improving their record to 39-12 overall and 12-6 in Pac-10 play. Stanford defeated No. 25 Oregon, 5-1 on May 6 but then dropped the game on May 7 against No. 7 Oregon State in a 1-0 loss in nine innings. The Cardinal rebounded on May 8 to get the 6-4 victory over the Beavers...In three games, junior centerfielder Catalina Morris went 5-for-11 (.455) with four runs scored and two RBI. Three of her five hits were for extra bases (a double and two home runs). She also recorded a 1.091 slugging percentage for the weekend. On the year, Morris is batting at a .365 clip with a team-leading 61 hits and 12 doubles. She is second with 43 runs scored and 34 RBI...Stanford will host Arizona State on Thursday and No. 3 Arizona on Friday and Saturday to wrap up Conference action.

UCLA
The Bruins were the only Pac-10 team to go undefeated last weekend with wins over No. 3 Arizona (6-0) on May 6, twice against Arizona State on May 7 (6-1) and on May 8 with an 8-0 victory in five innings...JR Caitlin Benyi was impressive at the plate, going 6-for-8 (.750) with six runs scored, a double, three home runs and six RBI for a 2.000 slugging percentage. With her one walk and two hit-by-pitches figured in, Benyi had an .818 on-base percentage for the week (reached base on 9-of-11 plate appearances) and was perfect defensively on six chances. With her performance last week, Benyi is hitting .360 on the year. She was also named the National Player of the Week on May 10...JR Lisa Dodd pitched two complete-game shutouts on the road last week against No. 3 Arizona and Arizona State. On the weekend, she recorded a 0.00 ERA, a 2-0 record, five strikeouts and two walks, while only allowing nine hits. Dodd helped the Bruins offensively as well, hitting .500 for the weekend (4-for-8) with two runs scored, a double, a home run and three RBI with a 1.000 slugging percentage...The Bruins will host No. 25 Oregon on Thursday and complete the Conference season against No. 7 Oregon State on Friday and Saturday.

WASHINGTON
UW went 1-3 last weekend, dropping to 8-10 in Pac-10 play and 29-19 overall. The Huskies' only win came against Arizona State on May 6, in an 8-0 victory in five innings. Washington dropped three games against No. 3 Arizona, including the April 15 game that was postponed earlier this season...SR Kristen Rivera tied two school records, including career home runs (73) and season walks (56) during the weekend of April 29-May 1. Her home run against Stanford on April 29 was her 15th of the season and ties Jaime Clark for the school record. Rivera ranks fifth on the Pac-10 all-time home run list...The Huskies will host No. 7 Oregon State on Thursday and No. 25 Oregon on Friday and Saturday to close out the Conference season.
