Cal's Jeff Hood to Compete as Individual at 2005 NCAA West Regional

BERKELEY, CA - Senior team captain Jeff Hood, Cal's lone returnee from last season's NCAA champion men's golf team, has been selected to compete as an individual at the NCAA West Regional, held May 19-21 at the Stanford Golf Course (par 71, 6,742 yards) in Stanford, Calif.
Hood, who was All-Pac-10 and an honorable mention All-American last year, placing 10th individually with Bear teammate Peter Tomasulo at the 2004 NCAA championships, last competed at the Stanford Golf Course Apr. 16-17 during the 2005 U.S. Intercollegiate. He finished tied for ninth at the U.S. Intercollegiate with a team-best 215 (70-73-72, +5). It was Hood's highest place finish of the 2004-05 campaign.
Leading the Bears with a 73.3 average this season, Hood also had Top 10 finishes at the both the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Tucson, Ariz. (68-71-73 - 212, -1) and the Ashworth Invitational Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in Westlake Village, Calif. (72-73-69 - 214, +1). He had Cal's top score in five of the team's 11 tournaments.
