Mittelstaedt Selected To USA Volleyball Junior National Team

TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State University freshman setter Rachel Mittelstaedt has been selected to the USA Volleyball Junior National Training Team.

Mittelstaedt, who will be a sophomore for the Sun Devils in 2005, is one of 18 players chosen for the training team and will compete for one of 12 spots on the Junior National Team that will compete in the World Championships in Turkey in July. Mittelstaedt will train under JNT coach Shelton Collier in early July in Lake Placid, New York.

The Xavier Prep product earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 freshman honors in 2004. The 6-1 setter averaged 10.59 assists per game while starting 25 of ASU's 27 matches. She also recorded 76 total blocks and was third on the team averaging 0.86 blocks per game.
