Women's Basketball Announces 2004-05 Team Awards

Los Angeles, Calif. - The UCLA women's basketball team handed out its annual team awards, with junior Nikki Blue winning Team MVP honors, and sophomore Noelle Quinn and freshman Lindsey Pluimer sharing the Bruin Award for overall excellence.
Blue was UCLA's leading scorer in 2004-05, averaging 17.0 points per game. She also led the team with an average of six assists per game (ranked 12th nationally) and was second on the squad with 91 steals (average of 3.4 steals ranked 12th nationally). Blue was an honorable mention AP and WBCA/Kodak All-American and earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors for the third consecutive year.
Quinn and Pluimer were both members of the Director's Honor Roll this year, earning a 3.0 GPA or higher. Quinn averaged 16.9 points per game before a knee injury felled her in January. Regardless, she was a nominee for the Wooden Award and earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors. Pluimer earned Pac-10 All-Freshman first-team acclaim after averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She started in all 28 games for the Bruins, with a season-best of 22 points vs. Pepperdine and 12 boards against Stanford.
Junior guard Lisa Willis was named the Offensive Player of the Year after a season in which she earned first-team All-Pac-10 acclaim. Willis averaged 16.3 points per game and led the Pac-10 and ranked 25th nationally with 70 three-point field goals (2.5 average). She also led the conference and ranked sixth nationally in steals with 102 (3.6 average).
Sophomore forward Amanda Livingston received Defensive Player of the Year honors. Livingston, who started all 28 games and averaged 7.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, led the Bruins with 20 blocked shots and led a defense that held its opponents to a field goal percentage of .400, tied for fourth-lowest in school history. The Bruin defense also gave up an average of 68.0 points per game and had 81 blocked shots, numbers which rank ninth on the all-time school lists.
