Women's Golf 14th After Day One at NCAA Championships

The Arizona State University women's golf team is in 14th place after the first round of the 2005 NCAA Championships, being held May 17-20 at the par 71, 6,312-yard Meadows Course at the Sunriver Resort.
The Sun Devils carded a 19-over 303 on Tuesday and are three strokes out of the top 10. USC leads the NCAA Championships after one day, shooting a three-over 287 in the first round. The Women of Troy hold a one-stroke advantage over second-place UCLA (288), while Auburn (290), Pepperdine (291), Duke (292) and Washington (292) round out the top five.
Individually, senior Erin Tone, sophomore Tiffany Tavee and freshman Louise Stahle all turned in four-over 75s to tie for 47th and lead the Sun Devils. Junior Alissa Kuczka carded a seven-over 78 and is tied for 89th, while sophomore Charmaine Erasmus stands in a tie for 113th after a first-round 80.
Pepperdine's Carolina Llano holds a one-stroke lead over the individual field, shooting a two-under 69 in Tuesday's first round. UCLA's Dewi Schreefel is second overall after carding a one-under 70 on Tuesday.
The NCAA Championships continue Wednesday-Friday with ASU looking for its 17th all-time top 10 showing. The Sun Devils will tee off at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning, while tee times on Thursday and Friday will be determined by results.
