Women's Golf Moves Up to 10th After Two Days at NCAAs

The Arizona State University women's golf team moved into a tie for 10th place after the second round of the 2005 NCAA Championships, being held May 17-20 at the par 71, 6,312-yard Meadows Course at the Sunriver Resort.

The Sun Devils shot a 17-over 301 in Wednesday's rainy and windy conditions to climb from 14th to a tie for 10th with Oklahoma State at 36-over 604. Pepperdine and Auburn are tied for first overall with a two-round total of 18-over 586, while UCLA (590), California (594) and Duke (595) round out the top five after the first two rounds.

Senior Erin Tone carded the best round of the day for ASU at two-over 73 and is tied for 17th with a two-round total of six-over 148 (75-73). Sophomore Tiffany Tavee is tied for 31st at eight-over 150 (75-75), while freshman Louise Stahle stands in a tie for 53rd after two days (75-77=152). Sophomore Charmaine Erasmus shot a four-over 75 on Wednesday and is tied for 88th at 156 (80-76), and junior Alissa Kuczka stands in a tie for 95th with a two-round total of 157 (78-79).

UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas, Auburn's Diana Ramage, USC's Dewi Schreefel and Pepperdine's Eileen Vargas are all tied for first individually at two-over 144. The four players hold a one-stroke advantage over another quartet at three-over 145.

The NCAA Championships continue on Thursday and Friday with ASU looking for its 17th all-time top 10 showing and second in as many years. The Sun Devils will tee off at 1:30 p.m. and play with Oklahoma State and Florida on Thursday, while Friday's tee times will be determined by results.
