Hayes Paces USC On Day 2 Of NCAA West Region

Ben Hayes's 72 led a quintet of Trojans who shot no worse than 75 while junior Bradley Shaw remained USC's overall leader on the second of three days at the NCAA West Region at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., on Friday (May 20).
The Trojans shot a combined 292 (+12) and sit at 578 (+18) over the first two days (tied for 10th place as of 4:30 p.m. with some teams still finishing). The top 10 of 27 teams competing at each of the three regions advance to the NCAA Championships June 1-4.
UNLV leads at 2-under as a team (558) with BYU four strokes back.
All five Trojans began play on hole 10. Hayes' 72 included three bogeys on the front 9, but he was 1-under on the back nine (one birdie and eight pars) to finish as USC's day two leader. He stands at 145 (+5) for the tournament.
Shaw, who led USC with a 69 on Thursday, followed it with a 75 (+5) on Friday and remains USC's overall leader at 144 (+4). Sophomore Joshua Wooding shot a 74 (+4) on Friday and stands at 146 (+6) while
