Lincecum Fans 13 In 6-4 Win Over ASU

SEATTLE - Tim Lincecum struck out 13 in a complete game and the Huskies got three hitseach from Zach Clem, Matt Hague and Nick Batkoski as the Washington baseball team beat No.17 Arizona State, 6-4, Friday night at Husky Ballpark in the first game of a three-game Pac-10series.
The win improved the Huskies' season record to 29-21 overall and 8-11 in the Pac-10 while ASUdropped to 30-21, 11-8 in the conference.
Lincecum earned the win to improve to 7-6 on the season. He allowed four runs on seven hitsover his nine innings of work. Seven of his 13 strikeouts came on called third strikes.
ASU starter Erik Averill (8-4) lasted only two innings in the loss, surrendering four runs on sixhits.
A two-run homer from ASU first baseman Zechry Zinicola in the second inning gave the SunDevils a 2-0 lead.
In the third, Washington responded as the first eight batters in the inning reached base. With twoon, Brent Lillibridge doubled to give the UW its first run. Clem followed with a two-run singleto put the Huskies in front. the UW scored its final run of the inning on an RBI single fromBatkoski.
Washington tacked on two more in the fourth on a run-scoring double from Hague and anotherRBI single from Batkoski.
ASU posted their third run in the fifth when Colin Curtis walked and eventually came around ona single from Jeff Larish. In the seventh, the Sun Devils loaded the bases on a single and twowalks. Pinch hitter Rocky Laguna then drew a walk to force in a run, but Lincecum struck outSeth Dhaenens to end the inning with the Huskies still on top 6-4.
