Top-Ranked Stanford Takes 1-0 Lead Over No. 11 Texas in the NCAA Championship

Top-seeded Stanford took a 1-0 lead over 11th-seeded Texas in the NCAA Championship this afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia. The Cardinal is playing in its 19th NCAA Championship match and is in pursuit of its 14th team title.
Amber Liu and Anne Yelsey, the No. 36 doubles duo in the nation, finished first today, scoring an 8-1 win over 28th-ranked Katie Ruckert and Kendra Strohm on court one. Once again, it was a race to clinch the doubles point, as Alice Barnes and Erin Burdette owned a 7-2 lead on court two, while Whitney Deason and Theresa Logar held a 7-5 advantage on court three. With both squads were at match point, Logar fired off an ace to clinch the doubles point in the eighth-straight match for Stanford.
