Stanford To Host Tennessee In Softball Super Regional

Stanford, Calif. - Following a 3-2 win over No. 16 Missouri on Sunday, the Stanford Cardinal softball team will return home to face Tennessee in an NCAA Super Regional series this weekend. The Super Regional will begin with a 6:00 pm game on Friday and continues with a 1:00 pm contest on Saturday at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. A third game scheduled for a 3:30 pm start will be played if necessary on Saturday.
The Cardinal traveled to Missouri over the weekend, defeating Robert Morris (9-0 in 6 inn.), Southern Illinois (9-1) and Missouri (3-2) en route to Super Regional competition.
Tennessee has posted a 62-13 record this season and advanced to the Super Regional with three consecutive shutouts in NCAA Regional play. The Lady Vols topped Miami University, 9-0 (5 inn.), and defeated College of Charleston twice, 4-0 and 2-0, in Knoxville over the weekend.
The eight Super Regional match-ups are as follows:
* No. 16 Washington at No. 1 Michigan
* No. 9 Northwestern vs. DePaul (site to be determined)
* No. 12 Alabama at No. 5 Texas A&M
* Bethune-Cookman at No. 4 Texas
* No. 14 Oklahoma at No. 3 Arizona
* No. 11 Tennessee at No. 6 Stanford
* No. 10 Georgia at UCLA
* No. 2 California at No. 15 Baylor
The winner of each three-game set will advance to the Women's College World Series, which will be contested from June 2-8 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
