Stanford rolls to another NCAA women's tennis title

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Stanford won its second straight NCAA women's tennistitle Sunday, beating Texas 4-0 to complete it second consecutive perfect season.

The Cardinal (27-0) have won 56 straight matches, 20 short of the schoolrecord set from 1988-91.

Stanford dominated Texas (25-6) from the outset, and got singles wins fromErin Burdette, Theresa Logar and Amber Liu. The Cardinal also won the doubles.

Stanford completed its third undefeated season under coach Lele Forood, whohas a career record of 138-3. Overall, Stanford has won 14 NCAA team titles,and half of those teams finished with a perfect record.

The NCAA women's singles tournament begins Monday. Liu, the two-timedefending champion, is seeded seventh. The doubles tournament begins Tuesday.
