Wednesday Game At Portland Is Cancelled

May 23, 2005

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon State's baseball game that had been rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Portland has been cancelled. The game was originally to have been played last Tuesday but was rained out.

With the cancellation, Oregon State's regular season is now over and the Beavers await word on the NCAA Regionals that will be played June 3-6. OSU finished the regular season with a record of 41-9 overall and 19-5 in the Pacific-10, good for at least a conference co-championship; the Beavers would take sole possession of the title if Arizona loses any of its three home games against California this coming weekend.

Oregon State is hoping to be selected as one of 16 host schools for the NCAA Regionals, which are four-team double-elimination tournaments. The 16 sites will be announced on Sunday, May 29 at 12:30 p.m. and the announcement will televised on ESPN2; the entire 64-team bracket will be announced Monday, May 30 at 8:30 a.m. and the announcement will be televised on ESPN2.
