Draws Announced For NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The draws are set for the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships, which feature Huskies Alex Vlaski and Alex Slovic in singles and Slovic and Daniel Chu in doubles action. The 64-player singles draw begins Wednesday, May 25 with one round per day until the finals on Monday, May 30. The doubles bracket features 32 teams and gets underway on Thursday, May 26 with the finals also on May 30.

For the senior Vlaski, this will be his fourth and final NCAA appearance. Vlaski reached the second round as a freshman and again as a junior. In 2003, as a sophomore, Vlaski made it through to the semifinals, losing to eventual champion Amer Delic of Illinois. Currently ranked sixth, Vlaski is the number eight seed in the tournament and will face Greg Ouellette of Florida in the first round at 9 a.m. PT. Ouellete is a freshman ranked 49th in the ITA Rankings.

Slovic will be making his second NCAA singles appearance in a row, after reaching the second round as a freshman last season. Slovic is currently 44th in the rankings and will face one of the tournament favorites in the first round, in Mississippi's fourth-seeded Catalin Gard. Slovic and Gard will face off at 9:30 a.m. PT.

Chu also has prior NCAA experience, as he paired with Vlaski last year in his freshman campaign to qualify for the doubles draw. Chu and Vlaski were ousted in the first round. This will be Slovic's first appearance in the doubles tournament. Slovic and Chu are currently ranked 18th in doubles and will open on Thursday against the 29th-ranked tandem of Luiz Carvalho and Jose-Carlos Pinto of Mississippi State. The start time will not be before 11 a.m. PT.
