May 26, 2005
BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior Claire Dury earned National Golf Coaches Association honorable mention All-America honors after tying for sixth place at the 2005 NCAA Championships. Dury carded a six-over score of 290 during the 72-hole tournament, taking one stroke off of her score each day (74-73-72-71) to produce her best result in four trips to NCAAs.
The New Zealand national team player also led Cal at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in the fall (tied for 15th). Dury's sixth-place showing is her highest at Cal since she placed fourth at the 2003 NCAA Central Regional.
Dury, who posted a career-best 75.6 stroke average this season, is the fifth Cal women's golfer to earn All-America status. In 2003-04, Sarah Huarte received first team honors, while Sofie Andersson and Sophia Sheridan were tabbed honorable mention. Following the 2002-03 campaign, Vikki Laing garnered second team accolades, while Huarte was honorable mention.
