Sam Warburg and KC Corkery Advance To Quarterfinals At NCAA Doubles Championship

College Station, Tex. - The No. 2 seeded duo of senior Sam Warburg and junior KC Corkery defeated Washington's Daniel Chu and Alex Slovic in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship in College Station, Texas. The reigning NCAA champions will take on Arizona's duo of Roger Matalonga and Colin O'Grady in quarterfinal action on Saturday.

Warburg and Corkery won the first set against Chu and Slovic by a 6-3 margin before closing out the Round of 16 win with a 6-4 victory in the second set. It marks the third time the two duos have met this season, with the Cardinal tandem topping their opponents for the Pac-10 doubles championship in April following a defeat at the hands of the Husky duo in March.

Warburg and Corkery will meet another Pac-10 rival in the quarterfinals, taking on Roger Matalonga and Colin O'Grady from Arizona on Saturday. Matalonga and O'Grady posted a 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 win over Ryler DeHeart and GD Jones of Illinois in Round of 16 play on Friday. The two duos have met twice in dual matches this season, with the Cardinal pairing winning both contests by 8-5 scores.
