May 27, 2005

TUCSON, AZ - The Cal (32-22, 11-10)-No. 7-ranked Arizona (36-17, 16-5) baseball game has been rained delayed with the Golden Bears leading the Wildcats, 1-0, in the top of the second inning. With one out in the top of the second, senior third baseman Matt Einspahr hit a triple down the right field line off of Arizona starter John Meloan. Einspahr then scored on sophomore catcher Garrett Bussiere's RBI double to right center field. Following Bussiere's double, rain immediately flooded the Frank Sancet Field playing surface.

Cal and Arizona will now play a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 28. The first game will begin with one out in the top of the second inning with Bussiere on second and senior designated hitter James Holder at the plate. Friday night's game had been delayed for an hour and 16 minutes due to lightning.
