UCLA Signs Local Standout Cody Decker

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Cody Decker, a senior catcher/utility infielder from Santa Monica High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for UCLA. Decker, who will enter UCLA in the fall, joins 14 others in what has already been hailed as one of the best recruiting classes in the nation.
The local standout batted a team-high .480 this past season while also leading the Vikings with 39 RBI and 11 home runs. He finished his senior season with 32 runs scored, 36 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and just nine strikeouts in 75 at bats. His slugging percentage of 1.107 and on-base percentage of .627 were also tops on the team. He was also 11 of 12 in stolen base attempts.
The complete 2005 signing class includes Corey Ashner, Ryan Babineau, Tyson Brummett, Brandon Crawford, Jermaine Curtis, Decker, Robert Dickmann, John Drennen, Blair Dunlap, David Huff, Brian Kirwan, Tim Murphy, Eddie Murray, Jason Novak and Andy Suiter.
