June 3, 2005

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Doshia Woods has been named assistant women's basketball coach at Oregon State University, announced head coach LaVonda Wagner on Friday.

Woods, a native of Topeka, KS, will join Oregon State after serving this past season as an assistant coach at New Mexico State.

'I'm very excited to have Doshia Woods join our staff,' said Wagner. 'She brings a lot of things to the table as far as recruiting, academics, scouting, and being able to relate to the players. Doshia understands what it takes to be able to compete for championships.'

Prior to joining the New Mexico State staff, Woods served three years as an assistant coach at Western Illinois. During her final two years at Western Illinois, the Westerwinds posted a combined record of 41-18, which included a 27 home game winning streak and a pair of regular season conference titles.

'This is a great opportunity,' said Woods. 'I'm excited to work with Coach Wagner and help build the program at Oregon State - I can't wait to contribute.'

A basketball letterwinner, Woods spent the 1999-2001 seasons playing for Western Illinois after having competed at Barton County (Kansas) Community College from 1998-99. As a player at Western Illinois, Woods served as team captain and was named second team All-Mid-Continent Conference. She ranks third all-time for the Westerwinds in career 3-point field goals.
