Three Bruins Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

June 6, 2005

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA juniors Scott Botterman, Chris Jensen and Chris Denove have been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team for baseball, the conference announced Tuesday. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor to their respective teams.

Botterman and Jensen were named to the first team while Denove received Honorable Mention status.

Botterman (Grapevine, Texas/Grapevine HS), a Business-Economics major, posted a 3.48 GPA and struck out ten batters in 11.2 innings on the mound. He captured the victory in UCLA's 5-4 come-from-behind win over Cal State Northridge on February 12.

Jensen (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo HS) accumulated a 3.54 GPA as an academic senior while contributing a large surge to the Bruin offense in 2005. After missing half of the baseball playing season due to injury, Jensen rebounded soundly, hitting .368 overall and pounding seven home runs in just 29 games played.

For Denove (Agoura Hills, CA/Agoura HS), the honorable mention selection is the second consecutive. He finshed 2005 with 40 hits and 22 RBI as the Bruins' starting catcher.
