Manhold, Varekova Earn All-Pac_10 Rowing Honors

WAlNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC sophomore rowers Simone Manhold and Barbora Varekova have been named to the 2005 All-Pac-10 Team, announced conference commissioner Tom Hansen on Monday, June 6. This is the first such honor for both Manhold and Varekova.

Both rowers were members of the nationally ranked Varsity Eight boat this season, leading the boat to a seventh straight appearance at the NCAA Championships and the Trojans first ever team bid.

The Women of Troy finished 11th as a team and the Varsity Eight boat placed 10th at the NCAA championships on May 29.

In 2004 Manhold was named to the CRCA All-American second team and was a member of the Pac-10 All American Second team in just her first season as a Trojan.

The Pac-10 named California's Steve Gladstone the Rowing Coach of the Year, this is the second year in a row the Coach of the Year is a Golden Bear. The Women's Newcomer of the year is California's freshman Mara Allen.
