Swimming Sends Four To Compete In Croatia

SEATTLE-- Four Washington swimmers will compete at the 2005 Golden Bear, the 20th Annual International Swimming Meet in Zagreb, Croatia, June 11-12. Head coach Mickey Wender will accompany UW senior Sharon Olson and juniors Jared Osborne and Brittany Epperson to represent Team Starbucks at the meet. Washington sophomore Bruno Barbic, a Croatian native, will compete with his home club team in the meet.

Each team can enter up to four swimmers and each can score points in just one event per day. Olson will swim the 100 and 400 freestyle and 200 individual medley but can only score points for Team Starbucks in two events.

Osborne will swim in the 50 and 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, while Epperson will swim in the 50 and 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

Barbic, a NCAA participant for Washington last spring, will swim the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Preliminary heats will begin at 9 am, with finals at 5 pm.
