Dane Renkert Drafted By Milwaukee

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior right-handed pitcher Dane Renkert was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 29th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Wednesday.

The Bellingham native posted a 1-3 record with five saves in a WSU single-season record 30 appearances this season. His 4.89 earned run average was best among Cougar hurlers. He struck out 41 and walked 19 in 57 innings pitched.

Renkert joins catcher Brady Everett (15th round, Colorado) and left-handed pitcher James Freeman (17th round, Kansas City) as Cougars selected during this year's draft.
