Men's Crew earns two Awards at 2005 Athletic Board Luncheon
June 10, 2005
Stanford, CA-- Jamie Schroeder and Adam Kreek were both honored at the 2005 Athletic Board luncheon for their contributions to Stanford. Jamie was given the Donald Kennedy Award in recognition of his community service. Adam Kreek was recognized (along with Chris Hernandez of Men's Basketball) as Outstanding Male Junior.
Jamie's contributions of time and effort were given in support of the Dylan Cappel Strides for Life Colon Cancer Awareness Foundation (www.stridesforlife.org). The inaugural year of the Annual Walk resulted in over $135,000.00 to promote colon cancer prevention and awareness. Jamie noted: 'Our team's involvement would not have been possible without Coach Amerkhanian's passion and support of this event. I am honored to receive this award on behalf of everyone who made this event possible.' Jamie graduates this spring and is pursuing medical school.
Adam Kreek was honored as the Outstanding Male Junior Athlete. As the outstanding Male Junior, Adam demonstrated leadership, proficiency and enthusiasm in leading Men's Crew to its highest national ranking ever. He returns in the Fall to complete his studies.
Post graduation ceremonies, some team members will return for training and preparation leading up to the Henley Royal Regatta (June 29-July 3). For more information, visit www.hrr.co.uk or www.row2k.com.
