CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Ryan Gipson's single drove in the go-ahead run in thesixth inning and Andy Jenkins added a three-run home run in the eighth to leadOregon State to a 10-4 victory over error-prone Southern California Saturdaynight.
The Beavers fell behind 4-1 early, but capitalized on eight Trojan errorsfor the opening advantage in the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series.
USC's Ian Kennedy, the Pacific-10 Conference pitcher of the year, did notallow a hit until Andy Jenkins' single in the fifth inning, but Oregon Statealready had narrowed it to 4-3 on sloppy Trojan play.
Shea McFeely doubled to right off Kennedy in the sixth. An out later, ColeGillespie singled and went to second on another Trojan error. McFeely scoredfrom third when Kennedy's wild pitch to Gipson tipped off catcher JeffClement's glove and he was too slow to find it.
Gipson followed with his single, scoring Gillespie to make it 5-4 for OregonState.
Gipson hit a sacrifice fly and Darwin Barney had an RBI single beforeJenkins' home run in the eighth.

Buck got off to a shaky start. He gave up a base hit to Billy Hart to loadthe bases with one out in the first inning before walking Baron Frost to giveSouthern California the early lead. He hit the next batter, Hector Estrella, square in the back with a pitch to surrender another run.
Kennedy appeared to have similar jitters in the first inning. After two USCerrors and some control problems allowed the Beavers to load the bases with noouts, Jenkins' sacrifice to deep left narrowed it to 2-1. Kennedy regainedcontrol and struck out the next two batters he faced to end the threat.
Blake Sharpe hit a two-run double off Buck in the third inning to make it4-1 for the Trojans.
The Beavers scored twice in the fourth - both times on Trojan fieldingerrors - to close to 4-3.

The Beavers hadn't even visited the postseason since 1986. And they haven'tbeen to Omaha since 1952, when they lost to Duke and Texas.
Tickets to the game sold out within a few hours on Tuesday. Fans whocouldn't get in to Goss Stadium at Coleman field stood on trucks parked beyondthe outfield, and stole peeks through gaps in the fence. One enterprising fanbrought a ladder for a perch.
