Arizona State arrives in Omaha having dethroned defending national champion Cal State Fullerton in the Fullerton Super Regional, rallying from 7-2 deficit to win the decisive third game 9-8. The Sun Devils open the College World Series against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Big 12 Tournament champions... Oregon State defeated USC in Corvallis to advance to its first College World Series since 1952. ARIZONA STATE has advanced to the College World Series for the 19th time in school history, and the first since 1998... The Sun Devils traveled to Cal State Fullerton for the Super Regionals, the fourth time in the last five postseasons that they have faced the Titans. For the first time in that span the Sun Devils advanced via Goodwin Field, winning games two and three of the series to prevent the 2004 champs from a chance at defending their title in Omaha. After a controversial balk call gave Cal State Fullerton a 3-2 victory in the first game, the Sun Devils bounced back with a 6-2 win in game two. Despite trailing 7-2 after four innings of game three, ASU battled back to win 9-8. Jason Urquidez earned the win by not giving up a run in 3.2 innings. Just two days after throwing 109 pitches in the Super Regional opener, Urquidez came back and threw 45 pitches to pick up his 10th win of the year. Tuffy Gosewisch had five hits and three RBIs to help the Sun Devils come back from the 7-2 deficit. He drilled a run-scoring double in the fifth and had a two-run single to tie the game at 7-7 in the sixth... ASU has won nine of their last ten games, a streak which followed a 2-7 slump. Prior to that the Devils had a streak of 12 wins in 14 games.

Oregon State's Andy Jenkins hit for the cycle, going 5-for-5 as the Beavers beat USC 10-8 in the deciding game of the best-of-three Super Regional series. After losing a five-run lead in game two - including a three-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning - and losing in 10 innings, the Beavers held off the Trojans to reach the College World Series for the first time since 1952... Jenkins was the first Beaver to hit for the cycle since A.J. Marquardt did it on March 28, 1993 against Southwest Missouri State in a 17-3 win in Norman, Okla. Jenkins' five hits tied OSU's school record for hits in a game, a mark shared by many players and most recently accomplished by Mike Hass in an 8-3 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Feb. 21, 2004 in Arlington, Tex. Jenkins' five-hit game was the second by a Beaver in the postseason, and both came in games that clinched Oregon State trips to the College World Series. Jay Dean - like Jenkins, a first baseman - went 5-for-5 with a double as the Beavers beat Fresno State 8-4 to wrap up the Far West Regional title on June 7, 1952 at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field... OSU also saw outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury break the school record for hits in a career, going 3-for-5 with a double to give him 234 hits, breaking the record of 232 set by Andy Jarvis from 2000-03... OSU's 1952 CWS team also defeated USC in Corvallis in the conference championship series en route to the College World Series. The Beavers' 53-year span between CWS appearances is the longest in NCAA Division I baseball history.... OSU has won 15 of its last 17 games.
