UW Places 21 Huskies on Crew All-Pac-10 Academic Team

SEATTLE, Wash. - A record setting thirteen members of the Husky Men's Crew earned first- or second-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors, while nine members of the Women's Crew earned first-, second-, or honorable mention Pac-10 All Academic honors, announced by conference commissioner Tom Hansen.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
Senior Kyle Larson (Mount Vernon, Wash./ Mount Vernon) was named to the All-Academic first team for the third straight year, with a 3.51 grade-point average in Architecture. Other first team honorees include junior Ante Kusurin (Zagreb, Croatia), senior Brett Newlin (Riverton, Wyo.), senior Martin Rogula (Zagreb, Croatia), senior Jacob Pettit (Snohomish, Wash./ Snohomish), and senior Colin Philips (Coronado, Calif). This selection marks Kusurin, Newlin, and Rogula second appearance on the All-Academic team.
Washington second team All-Academic honorees included senior Matthew Kopicky (Seattle, Wash./ Ballard), sophomore Cooper Lange (Seattle, Wash./ Blanchet), sophomore Mary Langlais (Torrance, Calif.), junior Kiel Petersen (Poulsbo, Wash./ Shawnigan Lake , B.C.), junior Tyler Smith (Issaquah, Wash./ Issaquah), and junior Adam Van Winkle (Mukilteo, Wash./ Kamiak).
On the women's side two members earned first team All-Academic honors for the second time in their collegiate careers; senior Janelle Dubbins (Anchorage, AK) and senior Megan Kalmoe (St. Croix Falls, Wis.). Other first team All-Academic honorees consisted of junior Eva Anderson (Seattle, Wash./ Shorecrest), senior Katie Gardner (Chico, Calif.), junior Olivia Morrow (San Diego, Calif.), and senior Katie Peyer (Kent, Wash./ Kentwood). Senior Katie Anderson (Vancouver, Wash./ Prairie), sophomore Asiha Grigsby (Graham, Wash./ Spanaway Lake), and sophomore Elizabeth Simenstad (Nappa, Calif.) earned honorable mention.
