Down Under Diaries - Consuelo Lezcano
Hi - this is Conseulo, and tonight we are leaving for Australia! Today is the last day of practice, and a lot of our family and friends are going to be there to say goodbye to the team. We are going to have a great practice and dinner afterwards with everyone. I am soooooo excited about this trip. One of my favorite things about team trips is that I get to spend quality time with all my sisters (teammates!), especially since I will be going home to Florida for a month after the trip.
It's all going to start with about a 15-and-a-half-hour plane ride to get there. It's really crazy because we leave on the 22nd, and we don't get there till the 24th. I still don't really understand how that happens, but I trust that Pam is taking care of everything. I know my team and I are well-prepared for the ride with DVD players, iPods, books and snacks.
We have been practicing for about two weeks getting prepared for the competition in Australia. Everyone has been working hard in the weight room and on the court for a new kind of basketball with 24-second shot clocks, bigger keys and actually jumping for the ball during jump balls. I am looking forward to the whole trip, but what I am anxious to do is climbing the ropes of the Sydney bridge. I am excited to see how different everyone's reactions are during this crazy ropes course. I am a huge fan of pictures, so I will have my camera on me all the time. Thank goodness for digital cameras!
Well I am going to go get ready for practice because it's hard to sit still knowing that I will be off to Australia in less than 12 hours. Stay tuned because you will be able to hear a little about how everyone's experiences are going in Australia. Go Bruins!!!!!
