Two UCLA Golfers Advance to Third Round at California Amateur

Two UCLA golfers were among the top 60 players to advance among the field of 156 at the 94th California Amateur Championship, played Tuesday at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Monterey, CA.

UCLA sophomore Kevin Chappell and junior Chris Heintz advanced to Wednesday's third round at Pebble Beach. Chappell posted rounds of 70-75-145 (+1) and was tied for 12th place. Heintz carded rounds of 71-75-146 (+2) and was tied for 15th place. Sophomore Matt Marshall and former UCLA All-American Steve Conway did not make the 36-hole cut.

Serra High School senior Jordan Cox was the 36-hole leader at 71-69-140 (-4).

Following Wednesday's round, the tournament switches to match play on Thursday. All remaining competition will be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
