Olson Selected for U.S. vs. Japan Matches

Seattle - Washington junior Erik Olson, the 2005 Pac-10 Champion, has been named to the United States team for the 2005 Fuji Xerox U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The 12-member squad will consist of eight men's and four women's collegiate players. The event will be held July 13-15 at Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto , Calif.
Olson replaces Duke's Nathan Smith, who was forced to withdraw from the competition. Olson is currently competing at the Sahalee Players Championships at the Sahalee Country Club.
The remainder of the U.S. team includes Travis Bertoni of Cal Poly, South Carolina-Aiken's Dan Burkhart, Will Dodson of SMU, Methodist's Adam Horton, J.J. Killeen of TCU, Arizona's Henry Liaw and Shane Prante of St. Martin's. The women's team consists of Wake Forest 's Ashley Hoagland, Stacy Lewis of Arkansas , Fresno State's Laura Luethke and Annie Thurman-Young of Oklahoma State .
Team USA leads all-time U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship series, 22-7, and has won nine-straight competitions.
