Lee Advances to Match Play at Women's Public Links

Seattle - Husky senior Sung Ea Lee of Tacoma shot 2-under 69 during the second round of stroke play at the 29th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at the Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Missouri to advance to the match play portion of the tournament. Lee finished stroke play tied for seventh at 1-over 143. She was 44th entering the second round after shooting 74 Monday. Lee's 69 tied as the second best score of the day.
Lee will be paired against Ya-Ni Tseng of Chinese Taipei in the opening round of match play. They are scheduled to tee off at 11:10 a.m. CDT.
Husky teammate Paige Mackenzie grabbed the lead at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association's Women's Amateur Championship being contest at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club in Federal Way. Mackenzie, from Yakima, shot 2-over 74 during the second round and owns a one-stroke lead over WSU's Anastasia Kostina.
Husky junior Amy Wang, who led after Monday's opening round, dropped back to fourth at 152 after shooting 8-over 80 during the second round. Husky sophomore Courtney McCracken moved all the way up to fifth thanks to a 71 in the second round. She is one stroke behind Wang. UW freshman Molly Boyle is 35th at 176.
Husky junior Ashley Bickerton will compete at the Canadian Women's Open that gets underway Thursday. Bickerton, a member of Canada's national team, was granted an exemption into the professional event that will be played at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia
