Mackenzie Reachs Finals of PNGA Amateur

Seattle - Washington senior Paige Mackenzie of Yakima defeated junior teammate Amy Wang 5 and 4 in the semifinals of the Pacific Northwest Golf Association's Women's Amateur Championship being contest at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club in Federal Way. Mackenzie will meet Taylor Leon of Dallas for the championship on Friday. The final is a 36-hole match. Wang won the event last year.
Mackenzie advanced to the semifinals after defeating Blair Ressler in a one-hole playoff in the morning. Mackenzie made an eagle on the only playoff hole to win the match. Wang won her quarterfinal match 2 and 1 against Maria Kostina.
Washington junior Ashley Bickerton shot 12-over 84 during the first round of play of the Canadian Women's Open. The tournament is being played at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia. Bickerton, a member of Canada's national team, was granted an exemption into the professional event.
